E. Sreedharan is renowned for his pivotal role in the development of metro rail systems in India. His leadership was crucial in the successful implementation of the Delhi Metro.
Born on June 12, 1932, in Kerala, E. Sreedharan graduated in civil engineering from the Government Engineering College, Kakinada (now JNTU).
Before his metro work, Sreedharan made significant contributions to Indian Railways. He played a key role in the Konkan Railway project.
Under Sreedharan’s leadership, the Delhi Metro became a benchmark for urban transit systems in India, known for its efficiency, punctuality, and modern technology.
E. Sreedharan has received numerous accolades for his contributions to infrastructure development, including the Padma Bhushan in 2001 and the Abdul Kalam Award.
Besides Delhi Metro, Sreedharan has been involved in various other metro and railway projects across India, including the Mumbai Metro and the Hyderabad Metro.
