Tapsi Upadhyay is pursuing a B Tech degree in computer science from IITM Janakpuri. She is 21 years old.
She is the eldest among her three siblings. In her class 12, she offered tuition classes to earn pocket money.
Tapsi had always enjoyed street food, but after experiencing food poisoning a couple of times, she made the decision to open her own food stall.
Tapsi set up her first pani puri stall in her college’s fest. She served healthy, air-fried golgappas.
Along with her six friends, Tapsi launched her startup. Her team comprises of students aged 17 to 25.
The golgappas are air-fried and white flour (maida) is not used. Tapsi utilizes homemade tamarind, dates, and jaggery to create her unique pani puri.
Tapsi tows her cart with a Bullet bike. A video of her riding her motorbike and the cart being towed with the bike went viral on the internet.
After Tapsi’s video went viral, her father immediately left for Delhi. Until then, her parents were unaware of her pani puri stall.
Her father raised questions about her business venture, and Tapsi explained about her startup with patience.
Tapsi operates approximately 20 stalls across the country, with four of them located in different parts of Delhi.
