Indian peacekeeper Major Radhika Sen who served with the UN Mission in DR Congo will be honoured with the prestigious UN Military Gender Advocate Award.
Major Radhika Sen will receive the United Nations Military Gender Advocate of Year Award 2023 on May 30.
UN Secretary-General Guterres will present the award to Major Radhika Sen.
Major Radhika Sen is the second Indian peacekeeper after Major Sumar Gawani to receive this prestigious award.
Major Radhika Sen served as the Commander of the Engagement Platoon for the Indian Rapid Deployment Battalion in the eastern DRC from March 2023 to April 2024.
Her father, Omkar Sen, works as the principal of Government Polytechnic in Hamirpur, and her mother is a lecturer in Physics.
Major Radhika Sen studied BTech from Panjab University. She was pursuing MTech from IIT Bombay before she joined the military.
