Every year on November 11, India observes National Education Day to honour the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, a freedom fighter & country’s first Education Minister.
Maulana Azad believed that education is the most powerful tool for social change and that everyone has the right to education.
His vision led to the creation of institutions such as the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the University Grants Commission (UGC).
This day aims to highlight the importance of education and ensure it is accessible to all segments of society.
Educational institutions organize street shows, poster making, seminars, workshops, essay competitions, and literacy rallies.
In 2008, the Indian government declared November 11th as National Education Day, a decision first announced by President Pratibha Patil at Vigyan Bhavan in Delhi.
The day aims to strengthen India's educational institutions and promote discussions that contribute to a better society.
