Sawan 2024: 7 Must visit Shiva and Parvati temples in India

Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh

It is one of the 12 sacred Jyotirlingas. As per Hindu epics, Lord Shiva and Devi Parvati live in Kashi. Thousands of devotees visit the temple to seek Moksha and eternal blessings.

Baijnath Temple, Uttarakhand

Nestled in the mountains of Uttarakhand, along with the banks of the Gomati River, Baijnath is one of the few temples where Devi Parvati is shown with her husband Lord Shiva.

Meenakshi Amman Temple, Madurai, Tamil Nadu

This divine temple reflects the essence of Dravidian architecture. As per Hindu mythology, it is the temple where Lord Shiva (Sundereswarar) married Devi Parvati (Meenakshi).

It is one of the 12 sacred Jyotirlingas. As per Hindu mythology, Lord Bhrama requested Lord Soma, the God of the moon to build this temple.

Kailasanathar Temple, Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu

Kailasanathar Temple was built by the Pallava dynasty in the 8th century. It is believed that King Rajasimha Pallava was instructed by Lord Shiva in his dream to build the temple.

Bhimashankar Temple, Maharashtra, India

It is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas. Devotees visit the temple during Sawan as it is believed that Shiva defeated the demon Tripurasura and took the form Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga.
