The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has put into effect the 'One Vehicle, One FASTag' regulation
The rule is aimed at discouraging the use of a single FASTag for multiple vehicles or associating multiple FASTags with a single vehicle.
Starting April 1, multiple FASTags will no longer be functional. Individuals possessing multiple FASTags for a single vehicle will not be able to utilize all of them.
This move is intended to streamline the electronic toll collection system and ensure smooth passage at toll plazas.
Last month, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) advised customers and merchants of Paytm Payments Bank Ltd (PPBL) to transition their accounts to other banks by March 15.
FASTag, an electronic toll collection system managed by NHAI, has revolutionised toll collection in India.
FASTag boasts of a penetration rate of nearly 98% and over 8 crore users.
Employing Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology, FASTag facilitates toll payments directly from linked prepaid or savings accounts.
