Nirmala Sitharaman, born August 18, 1959, in Madurai, is India's Finance Minister. She hails from a Tamil Iyengar Brahmin family with deep roots in Tamil Nadu.
Nirmala Sitharaman studied in Madras and Tiruchirappalli, earning her BA in economics there. She completed her MA and M.Phil from JNU but didn't finish her PhD.
