Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has announced plans for a 14-lane highway connecting key cities, including Mumbai and Bengaluru.
Gadkari made the announcement at the College of Engineering Pune alumni meet. The highway will begin near Atal Setu in Mumbai, pass through Pune, and reach Bengaluru.
This highway will link to Pune via the Ring Road, with the minister stating it will cut traffic on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway by 50%.
Construction on the 14-lane Mumbai-Bengaluru highway is expected to begin within 6 months. The road will be located near the Atal Setu, connecting Sewri in Mumbai with Navi Mumbai.
Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari emphasized the significance of cost-effective technology in road construction.
Gadkari noted that around 8 million tons of waste have been used in road construction and highlighted the potential for further research in this area.
Gadkari predicts that within the next 25 years, all vehicles in the country will run on electricity instead of petrol and diesel.
Nitin Gadkari stated that India ranks third globally in the vehicle market.
