Deepinder Goyal is the co-founder and CEO of Zomato. Once started as a startup now is a 2 trillion USD company making Deepinder Goyal India's newest billionaire.
The delivery service, Zomato reached the market capitalization of 2 trillion USD on Monday. As per Forbes the 41-year-old has a net worth of $1.4 billion or Rs 11700 crore.
Deepinder graduated from IIT Delhi and co-founded Zomato with Pankaj Chaddah. It was first called Foodiebay. It was renamed Zomato in 2010.
Zomato became a unicorn in 2018-19. Pankaj Chaddah left the company around the same time. In 2021, Zomato launched its IPO and in 2022 Zomato bought Blinkit.
Deepinder is currently serving as the CEO of Zomato and owns a 4.24% stake in the company or Rs 36.95 crore.
Zomato has increased its platform fee from Rs 5 to Rs 6 in cities including Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Delhi. Its competitor Swiggy has also implemented the same as of Sunday.
