Many people trying their hands at making rotis for the first-time struggle to make them round. Here are some easy tips that can help you make nice, fluffy rotis.
Knead your dough nicely. Make sure it is smooth and soft.
Let the dough rest for 20 minutes before making rotis. Keep it covered with a muslin cloth.
Roll the rotis on a plain and smooth surface, using a rolling-pin which is easy to handle. Powder the surface with dry flour.
Apply even pressure to make the rotis. Rather than adding pressure to the centre of the roti, focus on its edges to make it round. Use dry flour to prevent sticking.
Make sure your tawa (pan) is perfectly heated. Place the roti on tawa, cook both sides first for 5-7 seconds each, then use a cloth to press it gently to make the roti puff.
