The Italian police officials had recently raided LVMH's Dior suppliers. These were responsible for making the high-end luxury handbags that we all love.
The Italian officials found out that the LVMH subsidiary, Dior uses thrid-party suppliers to create their handbags and exploit the workers to mass produce these expensive bags.
In the investigation, it was found that the luxury company was paying just $57 to pump out a $2,780 handbag. This cost does not include raw materials however it is still too low.
The investigation also disclosed that mots of the workers were Chinese with two of them living illegally and working in the workshop.
The machines were also stripped of safety devices from gluing and brushing machines to increase the efficiency of the workers at the cost of their safety.
Dior hasn't published any response till now. LVMH's CEO, Bernard Arnault is the third richest man in the world with a massive net worth of $194 billion.
