Meet Chandubhai Virani

Chandubhai Virani is an inspirational figure for millions of people all across the nation. He is the founder of Balaji Wafer, which is now valued at Rs 5000 crore.

Early life

Born into a family of farmers in Gujarat, Virani brothers had to face several financial stresses. In 1974, the Viani brothers left the house in search of jobs and went to Jamnagar.

Initial struggles

Their father sold his farmland for Rs 20,000 for the brothers to start a business. They started selling farm supplies, but the venture failed and left them hopeless.

Hard work

Virani found a job at the Astron Cinema canteen. Virani earned Rs 90 per month. The brothers somehow managed Rs 1000 and started making potato chips in one room.

Success

Later, Chandubhai got a loan of Rs 1.5 lakh from a bank and started the first factory of wafers in 1982. Since then, the business has witnessed mass success all over India.
