Stree 2 is based on the real horrifying folklore of Nale Ba. The spine-chilling tale originated in the 1990s in Bangalore. The folklore is based on a witch who would kill men.

In the real folklore, the witch roams on the streets at night. She could mimic the voices of their loved ones like sisters, mothers, or wives and lure and kill them in 24 hours.

Nale Ba

To combat the witch, the phrase 'Nale Ba' was coined. It means 'come tomorrow' in Kannada. The village residents started writing this on their doors and walls to avoid the witch.
