Politically Fit with Shehzad Poonawalla: Challenging Rahul’s interpretation of Supreme Court’s decision

In this episode of Politically Fit, Shehzad Poonawalla, while explaining exercises for the leg muscles, deals with the contempt petition of BJP MP Meenakshi Lekhi against Congress president Rahul Gandhi for distortion of a Supreme Court decision. Recently, when the apex court admitted a controversial newspaper report as permissible evidence in the case of the Rafale deal, Gandhi touted the decision as a vindication of his contention that Prime Minister Narendra Modi "stole the money of the Air Force and gifted it to Anil Ambani".

Poonawalla endorsed the view in the petition that this was not at all what the Supreme Court had said. Rightly, therefore, while admitting the petition, the court said that it had not yet given a judgment on the Rafale deal and also not held anybody responsible for any right or wrong payment.
