Tamil Nadu: Newly-elected AIADMK members sworn in as legislators

Chennai: Nine newly-elected members of the AIADMK who emerged victorious in the by-polls, were sworn in as MLAs in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
The oath was administered by Speaker P Dhanpal in the presence of chief minister Edappadi K Palanisamy, deputy chief minister O Panneerselvam and other senior leaders.
The ruling AIADMK has 123 MLAs in the House, after the victory of these nine members, while the DMK-led alliance has 110 members. The DMK alone has 101 members and the remaining are occupied by its allies such as Congress, Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) etc.
Congress MLA H Vasanthakumar (Nanguneri) is likely to resign from his post later today, following his election as MP from Kanniyakumari Parliamentary constituency.
