Kerala: Violence erupts in state on final day of campaign

Vadakara: The last day of the election campaign ended in violence in Kerala. LDF and UDF party workers engaged in a fight in Vadakara. The clash prompted district collector Sreeram Sambasiva Rao to declare a curfew on voting day. The curfew will be effective in Vadakara, Nadapuram, Onchiyam, Perambra and Kunnummal Grama Panchayath. NDA candidate K Surendran was allegedly blocked by LDF workers at Tiruvalla while he was campaigning. A few BJP workers were admitted to hospital following a clash with LDF workers.
Violence was also reported in Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta, Ponnani, Kollam, Alappuzha, Malappuram, Kannur and Kasaragod. Karunagapally and Kottarakkara in Kollam also witnessed clashed between party workers who pelted stones. Senior Congress leader AK Antony had to call off his roadshow at Kochuveli following clashed between the UDF and LDF.Â
