Farmers' leader Naresh Tikait: Polling in atmosphere of peace, brotherhood
Apr 11, 2019, 2:13 PM IST
MyNation spoke to Naresh Tikait, president, Bharatiya Kisan Union, in the Sisauli village of Uttar Pradesh. The farmers' leader says neither of the two strong contenders, Sanjeev Balyan of the BJP or Ajit Singh of the RLD supported by the SP and BSP, is an alien. "Donon apne hi hain (both are our people)," he says.
Tikait says that people are exercising their franchise in a congenial atmosphere this time.
The issues concerning farmers in the region are input price, the ability to sell the produce in time and electricity for irrigation, according to Tikait.
The farmers' leader says that the BJP may get fewer seats than what it achieved in 2019.
