Bengaluru: Karnataka Congress minister and resort politics expert DK Shivakumar sent out a warning signal to the state BJP president and former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa stating that his son BY Raghavendra will taste defeat at the hands of the Congress-JD(S) coalition candidate Madhu Bangarappa in Shivamogga Lok Sabha election.
Shivakumar said this at an election campaign in Bengaluru’s Malleshwaram to seek votes in favor of Congress’s Krishna Byre Gowda.
Using the controversial remarks of Yeddyurappa when he said that the Pulwama terror attack in which more than 40 CRPF jawans were martyred will help the BJP win 22 Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka, Shivakumar said, "Forget 22 seats, you will not even get two seats. Yeddyurappa's son will also be defeated."
He even felt that the BJP could have got lucky if they had fielded Tejaswini, the wife of late Ananth Kumar from Bengaluru South. She could have come to power with sympathy, now it is clear that BK Hariprasad (Congress) will go to Parliament and BJP candidate (Tejasvi Surya) will go to RSS camp. The Congress will win all four seats in Bengaluru, said Shivakumar.
Reacting to Shivakumar’s statements, Karnataka BJP's spokesperson S Prakash felt that Shivakumar is trying his luck by raking up some unrelated old statement. He added that when the nation is witnessing Narendra Modi wave nothing will be taken into consideration.
