Vijayapura: The body of Reshma Padeknur, a Congress leader from Vijayapur was found under Kolhar bridge, constructed on Krishna River. The body was found on Friday morning. On the surface, it looks like Reshma was murdered elsewhere and her body was thrown into the river. Her body had several wound marks. Reports claimed that the night before (Thursday), Reshma was seen with Toufiq, a leader of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), Maharashtra. Kolhar police have registered a complaint in this regard.
Reshma had contested on a JD(S) ticket form Devara Hipparagi in the 2013 assembly election but lost. She was also the JD(S) district president of the women's wing. However, Reshma switched sides before the assembly elections in May 2018 and joined the Congress. She had alleged that the JD(S) had side-lined her. Further details are awaited.
