Valmiki leaders go on strike over remarks made on a daily soap on a popular Hindi channel

Jalandhar: Valmiki leaders called for bandh after the failure of talks with civil and police administration on Saturday.
Various Valmiki organisations including Valmiki Tiger Force, which are agitating over certain remarks in a TV serial ‘Ram Siya Ke Luv Kush’ to be aired on the Colors channel.
Even as the District Magistrates of all districts, including Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Nawanshahr and Hoshiarpur, have banned the serial from being aired for a month, the organisations reportedly refused to budge.
The show is banned for a month for allegedly hurting the sentiments of the Valmiki community.
The Valmiki leaders told the Deputy commissioner Varinder K Sharma and the Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Bhullar that the content would continue to be aired on the channel in regions apart from Punjab and therefore, they would continue their protest.
As the administration had not issued any orders to schools, most government schools will remain open.
