Uttar Pradesh: Shahabad residents thrash ‘child kidnapper’, fight with police, block road

Shahabad: The residents of Uttar Pradesh’s Shahabad held a man alleging that he was involved in child kidnapping. They tied him up and started beating.
Meanwhile, police reached the spot and took the man into custody. But, the residents ganged up and fought with police too and took the man back into their control. They refused to hand him over to police and said that they will decide the mode of punishment. Despite higher police officials requesting, the residents did not budge and blocked a road. Then a large number of police personnel  was called to control the crowd and the road was cleared for traffic. Police used force to take the man back into to their custody. They found a knife and a ‘Tiger’ glucose biscuit from the man. He is being questioned. Cases have also been booked against residents who obstructed police from carrying out their duties and for taking law into their own hands.
