Rameswaram: Fisherfolk in Tamil Nadu’s Rameswaram have been inconvenienced by a cargo ship that needs to travel to Kakinada from Kerala via the Pamban bridge.
The fisherfolk have alleged that the cargo ship gets washed ashore due to strong winds in the region. This makes it difficult for them to see the ship when they set sail on their country boats and often end up ramming into it.
The fishermen have also stated that the cargo ship doesn’t allow them to park their country boats.
Fishermen have now taken it upon themselves to write to coastal and railway officials asking them to open the Pamban bridge to allow the cargo ship to move.
The Pamban bridge that is 105 years old, is usually opened once in 15 days.
