Pollachi sexual assault case: Protests across Tamil Nadu

Ramanathapuram: Lawyers have staged a protest demanding action against all accused in the Pollachi sexual assault case. The advocates have boycotted courts. The protests were led by A Ravichandra Ramacanni and AR Nambunayagam, president and secretary of Ramanathapuram Bar Association. A large number of lawyers are participating in the agitation that was held in front of the District Court and raised slogans demanding strict and speedy action against the accused. Addressing the protest, Mr. Ramavanni expressed apprehension that there could be attempts to cover-up the case as those involved appeared to be close to those in power. He urged the investigating agency to leave no stone unturned in bringing all accused to book and ensuring that they were convicted and punished in a court of law. “All accused should be brought to book, irrespective of their political leanings,” he said.
