Karnataka govt-run nurseries offer 13.74 lakh saplings, vow to increase green cover

Karwar: Karnataka govt-run nurseries at Karwar Forest division limits has offered at least 13.74 lakh varieties of plants to people and farmers. Special offers, free plants, and some plants at concessional rates are available as World Environment Day is fast approaching (on June 5) with the onset of rainy season, it is best to grow the plants.Â
The nurseries under the forest department have kept a large stock of saplings as the demand for plants goes high during occasions like environment day.Â
Some saplings have been kept ready to sell them to public. But most will be used to plant at public places including school premises, roadsides, government-owned forest land, premises of government offices, etc.Â
Various varieties of saplings including Acacia, Bamboo, Kindal, Sal, Indian Kino, Jackfruit , Plum, etc are available in these nurseries.
