Bengaluru: The BS Yediyurappa led Karnataka government has issued a notice to cancel Tipu Jayanti celebrations. BJP had earlier opposed the celebrations that were initiated by the Congress government and held protests.
Chief minister Yediyurappa said that a decision was taken after holding a Cabinet meeting following a plea to cancel the celebrations by party MLAs. But Congress has reacted to the same and said that Muslim leaders in the BJP should be held answerable for this development.
KPCC president Dinesh Gundu Rao called BJP a communal party and Congress leader Siddaramaiah said Tipu was not just a minority leader but a proud Kannadiga who worked hard for development of Mysuru. Siddaramaiah said that BJP is not secular.
