Hyderabad: The family of a patient on Tuesday staged a protest at Yashoda Hospital in Hyderabad’s Malakpet accusing the doctors of removing the patient’s kidney without their knowledge or consent.
The patient, Shiva Prasad Goud, was admitted to the hospital for a tumour in the stomach but the patient’s family alleged that during the surgery, doctors removed his kidney.
Goud’s brother said, after the surgery, the doctors assured them that everything was fine. However, Goud was put on ventilator as his condition was critical.
“When we asked the doctor about the condition of my brother then we were told that one kidney was also removed as it got infected due to the tumour,” added the brother.
The family questioned how one’s kidney can be removed without consent.
Police officials said that the family of Goud was protesting at the hospital and they brought the situation under control.
“As of now, we have not received any official complaint from the family of the patient. If they file a complaint with us, we will register a case and take up the investigation,” the police said.
