Aerospace company strives for success under Make in India concept

India has the third largest military in the world and is the sixth biggest defence spender. India is also one of the largest importers of conventional defence equipment and spends around 30% of its total defence budget on capital acquisitions. 60% of defence related requirements are currently met through imports.
India’s focus on indigenous manufacturing in the defence space is paying off as companies like Shiva Aerospace is striving for excellence to become a reliable partner of the Indian Air Force by developing good aerospace components for them. We caught up with the managing director of Shiva Aerospace ER Rajappan (retd) who overlooks the design, development, manufacturing, quality inspection, business development of aerospace components. The company’s main motto is to empower youth in this field and help them operate independently. The company plans to invest Rs 1.5 lakh crore to acquire aerospace components required for defence military aircrafts which will have tremendous growth in the coming years. The captain said that the company wants to help the armed forces maintain their legacy and aerospace equipment and buy more parts from Indian market to develop the Make in India concept. The captain also urges youth to join such establishments and help build a stronger India.
