The Congress has painted the controversial Rs 2 crore Priyanka Gandhi-Rana Kapoor transaction with a different brush, saying the painting belonged to MF Hussain and that Priyanka Gandhi only inherited it from her father. 

In a rare move, capital-starved Yes Bank was on March 5 placed under a moratorium with the RBI capping deposit withdrawals at Rs 50,000 per account for a month & superseding its board. Yes Bank will not be able to grant or renew any loan or advance, make any investment, incur any liability or agree to disburse any payment. RBI has assured Yes Bank depositors that their interest will be fully protected and that there is no need to panic. The regulatory actions came after SBI was directed to bail out the troubled lender. Auto major Maruti Suzuki too traded 2% higher, Tata Motors by 1.7%, Eicher Motors by 0.9% and Mahindra & Mahindra by 0.7%. The other prominent gainers were Zee Entertainment and Yes Bank.

Private lender Yes Bank was up by 8.2%, Coal India by 3.3%, Adani Ports by 3.2% and Maruti by 3.1% as the BSE S&P Sensex closed 246 points higher.

Sensex reached over 150 points amid sustained fund inflow. The Nifty also rose to 11,479. Top gainers in the Sensex pack included Bajaj Finance, Yes Bank, HDFC Bank, RIL, Tata Motors, Bajaj Auto, Tata Steel and ONGC, rising up to 3 per cent.

Top gainers in the Sensex pack in early trade included Bajaj Finance, Reliance Industries, SBI, Yes Bank, Axis Bank, Kotak Bank, Tata Steel, Vedanta, Asian Paints, Bharti Airtel, HCL Tech, HDFC and TCS, rising up to 2.10%.
