A wild elephant attacked and killed a villager in Chhattisgarh's Jashpur district

The wild elephant that strayed from Amchang Wildlife Sanctuary on into Sixmile area in the capital city of Assam created panic among the residents and brought traffic to a standstill for several hours. The elephant was seen walking on the GS road in Guwahati city creating a chaotic line of traffic.

 

Earlier, the elephant named Chinnathambi was captured from Thandagam near Coimbatore and was relocated to Varakaliyar in Tamil Nadu

The committee said the police security should also be arranged on the forest pathway because Pamba was completely destroyed in the floods. Earlier, an Ayyappa devotee was killed in a wild elephant attack on the forest pathway to the Sabarimala shrine.

The incident happened at the route usually taken by Ayyappa devotees who perform petta thullal (historic ritualistic dance) at Erumeli and reach Sannidhanam via Karimala. Nineteen more pilgrims were travelling to the shrine with Paramasivam
