Ballari deputy commissioner Ramprasad Manohar along with his family turned up at the polling booth early morning to cast his vote. 

At two polling booths set up at government higher primary school, Naganur Taluk in Jamakhandi, Karnataka, voters were welcomed by women with a tray of kumkum and tilak.

It has become a matter of pride to TRS to win the election, scheduled for December 7, 2018, in Telangana. The candidates surely seem to be bending backwards to lure the voters.

After the mess the Congress created among the Lingayat community, it turns into an opportunity for the BJP to step up in constituencies like Jamkhandi and Shivamogga during Karnataka by-election.

Former Karnataka minister Janardhan Reddy accused DK Shivakumar of distributing money  to voters in Ballari for the upcoming by-election. 'DK Shivakumar is free and I will wait till he comes and I will expose  him,' said Reddy.

Those who want to use the facility have to download the mobile application 'Chunavana' and book the facility from 6 am on October 29 till the midnight of November 1, state joint Chief Electoral Officer A V Surya Sen told PTI.

To encourage voters to exercise their franchise, in view of the low turnout during the first phase of polling, the Election Commission has extended the voting period from 9 to 10 hours

This is the first phase of the urban local bodies polls in Jammu and Kashmir, which will be held for the first time in 13 years. Security has been tightened for the elections in 422 of the state's 1,100 municipal wards.
