The Centre has led a ruthless crackdown on black money from Valley channelled into terrorism. Recently, an 8-member crack team, including agencies such as NIA, CBI, CBDT was created to crush terror funding nexus.

According to the reports, one American M4 - a lighter variant sniper rifle with a telescoping stock and a INSAS, which is used by Indian forces, were recovered from their hideout 

The Intelligence Bureau (IB) has warned Jammu and Kashmir's local administration that sympathisers and cadres associated with the banned organisation may disturb law and order situation in the Valley. Jammu and Kashmir's ex-Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has also raised questions over banning the organisation and has claimed that this would turn Kashmir into open jail.

Two terrorists were killed in a gunfight with security forces in Hajin area of Bandipora district in Kashmir. The security forces have carried out four encounters in Kashmir valley and have neutralised at least six terrorists in Kashmir Valley.

Actor-politician Kamal Haasan courted controversy after he had questioned why the government had not conducted a plebiscite in the valley. A popular news channel called Haasan a "separatist" for his statements. Makkal Needhi Maiam issued a statement saying that Kamal had been misquoted and the statements he made were in reference to a magazine article that was published several years ago.
