Turning the heat on West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee, her counterpart in Tripura Biplab Kumar Deb campaigned widely in Bengal for the BJP on Thursday.

MyNation has reliably learned that none lesser than BJP president Amit Shah has asked Sunil Deodhar to focus on the last phase of the Lok Sabha election in West Bengal when Kolkata goes to poll. In fact, even today BJP's Tripura man is stationed in Kolkata, strategising to spring a surprise in the final phase.

For the third phase of polling, the Election Commission has set up 147 all-women polling stations in the four constituencies of Assam — 29 in Dhubri, 11 in Kokrajhar, 28 in Barpeta and 79 in Gauhati.

Elections are being held in seven phases and with the completion of the third phase, the election process will be completed in southern states. 

97 constituencies spread over 13 States and one Union Territory will go to polls in this phase on Thursday, April 18.

In the 2014 general election, a 79.88% voter turnout was recorded in Assam, while 78.61% was recorded in Arunachal Pradesh, 79.62% in Manipur, 68.79% in Meghalaya, 61.69% in Mizoram, 87.82% in Nagaland and 84.72% in Tripura.

Sounding confident Tripura chief minister Biplab Deb asserted on Thursday that the entire state of Tripura will vote for Narendra Modi. 

The chief minister said Modi got residents of Tripura freedom from the left rule and, hence, they will once again vote him in.

 

Voting in the Northeast began at 21,585 polling stations including 9,574 booths in Assam, 2,201 in Arunachal Pradesh, 3,167 in Meghalaya, 2,227 in Nagaland, 1,175 in Mizoram, 1,679 in Tripura and 1,562 in Manipur

Three more Rohingyas were deported on Thursday to Myanmar via Manipur’s Moreh along the India-Myanmar border. They were lodged in a foreigner detention camp inside the Tezpur Jail in Assam's Sonitpur district after they had been found guilty of illegally entering the country
