Tight Security  

Security has been deployed across Karnataka from Friday to ensure peaceful celebration of the state government-sponsored Tipu Jayanti amid protests by the right-wing opposition.

Despite strong opposition from BJP and other activists, the Congress-JD(S) coalition government in Karnataka is all set to celebrate Tipu Jayanti on November 10.

‘Chithira Attavisesham’ marks the birth anniversary celebration of Chithira Thirunal Balarama Varma, the head of the Travancore royal family in Sabarimala.  
 

Tight security has been posted around the Sabarimala temple in Kerala on Monday as the temple opens for two days.  Extra security has been called in after violent protests last month against women who tried to enter the temple following a Supreme Court order
