Tejas Aircraft  

Tejas is a fighter jet developed by India’s Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). Tejas aircraft took its first flight in the year 2001. On 22 March 2016, it received the Initial Operational Clearance (IOC).

The Indian Air Force (IAF) will operationalise its No.18 Squadron at Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu on May 27, equipping it with the fourth generation LCA Tejas aircraft.

Union defence minister Rajnath Singh flew in the Tejas fighter aircraft from Bengaluru’s HAL airport. Singh, who was accompanied by Air Vice Marshal N Tiwari, termed his flight “amazing” while hailing the pilots for their bravery.
