The Election Commission has banned movies starring Ambareesh’s widow Sumalatha Ambareesh and HD Kumaraswamy’s son Nikhil Kumaraswamy ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

Nikhil Kumaraswamy, son of state chief minister HD Kumaraswamy, was addressing a gathering in Karnataka's Mandya district on the same day when Ambareesh's wife Sumalatha announced that she would be contesting as an independent candidate from there.

After Sumalatha announced her candidacy from Mandya as an independent candidate, the BJP fancies her chances of victory. Political pundits feel that her entry might stymie the chances of the JD(S). However, the JD(S) sounds confident.
