Five civilians have been injured in a grenade attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar. 

Post abrogation of Article 370 and removal of special category status, 575 youths today joined Light Infantry Regimental Centre during passing out parade held in Srinagar.

Rahul Gandhi along with opposition leaders had visited Srinagar on August 25 despite the fact that Kashmir has not returned to normalcy after abrogation of Article 370. Mayawati said that this visit has given the Governor and Centre a chance to do politics over the issue

Congress leader and former president Rahul Gandhi and 11 other opposition leaders were sent back to New Delhi from Srinagar. The 12 people were heading to Jammu and Kashmir to take note of the situation at ground zero after the abrogation of Article 370. 

The first batch of Haj pilgrims returned to Kashmir on Sunday. Several places in Srinagar witnessed clashes between groups of youth and security forces, leading to re-imposition of the curbs. Following the incidents of violence, restrictions continued in many parts of the Valley for the 14th day on Sunday.

The officials said landline services were restored in some areas of the Valley like Raj Bagh and Jawahar Nagar, but remained suspended in most parts, including the commercial hub of Lal Chowk, Press Enclave, and other areas around it

Seventeen out of a little over 100 telephone exchanges were made operational. These exchanges are mainly in Civil Lines area, Cantonment area, airport of Srinagar district.

 

National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, went to Srinagar on August 6. During his stay, the NSA took a round of Shopian, a district worst hit by terrorism, and met locals and security personnel.

Speaking to reporters, a senior official from the Jammu and Kashmir administration said that they are mulling the ease of restrictions to ensure smooth functioning of schools and government offices

Former IAS officer Shah Faesal detained by authorities at the Delhi airport and sent back to Kashmir. He was again detained under the Public Safety Act (PSA) on his arrival in Srinagar.
