Shiv Mohan Singh Saini, SDM of Pooh sub-division, according to reports, said that soldiers were patrolling at Namgia Dogri near Shipki La, when an avalanche happened. One soldier died and five still remain missing.

Some in mainstream and social media had claimed that the government had exposed CRPF soldiers to danger before the Pulwama massacre by refusing to provide them aircraft.

According to government data, as many as 1,708 terrorist incidents took place in the past five years, i.e. from 2014 to 2019. Last year, 614 cases were reported, which was almost three times of 222 cases in 2014.
