At least three terrorists were killed in an ongoing gunfight with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district

Three terrorists were killed by security forces in a gunfight in south Kashmir’s Shopian on Wednesday morning (June 10)

 
 

Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district and terrorists have exchanged fire. The area has been cordoned off.

A team of the Army's 44 Rashtriya Rifles, Central Reserve Police Force and Jammu and Kashmir's Special Operation Group conducted the operation
 

Police sources told MyNation that security forces had received specific inputs about the presence of terrorists in the area after which they had surrounded an orchard area of Dragad-Sugan village. Encounter is still underway in Shopian between security forces and terrorists

According to reports, the gunfight is going on in the forest area of Yarwan in Shopian. It is believed that two to three militants are trapped there
 

The exact number of terrorists hiding in the areas could not be established as the operation is still on. However, an army spokesperson confirmed that two militants have been killed in the encounter so far.

At around 3.20 pm, the security forces, moving towards the militants' hideout, came under heavy fire. Following this, an encounter broke out between the security forces and militants.
