Owner of Saravana Bhavan P Rajagopal has been rightfully sentenced for his role in a murder, but it was due to the efforts of former chief minister J Jayalalithaa that the case met its logical end.

The Dubai bus incident left 17 people dead, including 12 Indians. The driver has been sentenced to seven years in prison.

The special court judge J Shanthi sentenced Vaiko. Meanwhile, Vaiko's lawyer has approached the court to suspend the sentence under CrPC 389, that allows suspension of sentence pending an appeal by a convicted person.
