The Bombay Stock Exchange plunged over 310 points in opening trade on Monday. Nifty too dropped below 11,500 points.  IT stocks -- HCL Tech, TCS, Infosys -- were the major gainers.

Among stocks, Tata Motors was the top loser which erased previous gains by 3.1% to trade at Rs 126.80 per share. All sectoral indices at the National Stock Exchange were in the red.

Just after finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced a slew of measures to revive the economy, the Sensex zoomed over 1300 points. The government has slashed corporate tax to 25.17 per cent inclusive of all cess and surcharges for domestic companies.
 

Top gainers in the Sensex pack in early trade included Bajaj Finance, Reliance Industries, SBI, Yes Bank, Axis Bank, Kotak Bank, Tata Steel, Vedanta, Asian Paints, Bharti Airtel, HCL Tech, HDFC and TCS, rising up to 2.10%.

The 30-share index had risen 223 points, and was trading 164.05 points, or 0.45%, higher at 36,808.47, while the broader NIFTY rose 44.15 points, or 0.41%, to 10,892.05 at 9:30am on Friday

The BSE Sensex dropped over 250 points in early trade on Thursday. “Investors can expect greater volatility in the market on the back of weekly and monthly expiration of the August futures and options (F&O) contracts”, said Shrikant Chouhan, head technical research, at Kotak Securities.
