Market analysts and experts remain optimistic about the Indian equity markets reaching new heights, particularly with the Narendra Modi-led NDA government retaining Nirmala Sitharaman as Finance Minister.

Sensex and Nifty surged to all-time highs amidst expectations of a BJP-led NDA victory in the Lok Sabha Elections 2024. Exit polls suggest a third consecutive term for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, bolstering investor confidence.

The Nifty Bank Index comprises the top 12 banking institutes from both the public and private sectors. Given below are all these private and non-private banks that represent Bank Nifty.

After rallying 1,481.63 points, the BSE barometer gave up some gains to trade 443.27 points or 1.71 per cent higher at 26,424.51.

A sense of stability prevailed in the markets today as the Sensex rose 917 points to return to pre-budget levels

 

Due to the weak volumes ahead of the Christmas holiday, equity benchmark indices were flat

The Indian rupee fell 9 paise to 71.80 against the US dollar in early trade. The rupee opened weak at 71.80 at the interbank forex market, down 9 paise over its last close. The rupee had settled at 71.71 against the US dollar on Tuesday.

The Indian rupee rose by 19 paise against the US dollar in early trade. On Friday, rupee had settled for the day at 71.78 against the US dollar. Domestic bourses opened on a positive note on Monday with benchmark indices Sensex trading 31.36 points higher at 40,388.05 and Nifty up at 9.35 points at 11,904.80.

 

Sectoral indices at the National Stock Exchange were mixed with Nifty PSU bank up by 3.7%, IT by 1.4% and FMCG by 1%.  
               

Private lender Yes Bank was up by 8.2%, Coal India by 3.3%, Adani Ports by 3.2% and Maruti by 3.1% as the BSE S&P Sensex closed 246 points higher.

Sensex reached over 150 points amid sustained fund inflow. The Nifty also rose to 11,479. Top gainers in the Sensex pack included Bajaj Finance, Yes Bank, HDFC Bank, RIL, Tata Motors, Bajaj Auto, Tata Steel and ONGC, rising up to 3 per cent.

At 10:15 am, the BSE S&P Sensex was up by 214 points at 38,321 while the Nifty 50 edged higher by 49 points to 11,363. At the National Stock Exchange, sectoral indices were mixed.       

The Sensex fell by over 151 points and was mainly driven by Vedanta, Axis bank, Tata Steel, Bharti Airtel, Sun Pharma and L&T. NSE gauge Nifty too fell about 51 points in opening deals.

The Bombay Stock Exchange plunged over 310 points in opening trade on Monday. Nifty too dropped below 11,500 points.  IT stocks -- HCL Tech, TCS, Infosys -- were the major gainers.
