The Travancore Devaswom Board changed stance on the Supreme Court verdict allowing the entry of women into the temple has met the ire of the Pandalam royal family. Earlier, the Board had taken a stand against the SC verdict and sought more time to implement the verdict.

 On January 2, the chief priest of the Sabarimala temple had closed the doors of the shrine to perform Suddhikalasam (purification) after it was confirmed that two women entered the temple through the rear entrance and had darshan of Lord Ayyappa.
 

After a fake report that said 51 women entered Sabarimala temple, the numbers were revised to 17. However, in his latest statement, Devaswom minister Kadakampally Surendran says only two women entered the shrine.
