This shocking incident took place when people, including students of Jamia Millia Islamia, were marching towards Rajghat, in Delhi, to protest against the Centre's decision on the new citizenship law.

From Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat, several people visited Rajghat and paid floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his 72nd death anniversary 

Several people from the Left-wing and opportunists had decided to form a human chain at Rajghat. However, their permission was denied by the higher police officials as that was not a traditional route to hold protests.

Minutes after the royal couple met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Ramnath Kovind, the duo paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat

The prime minister visited Rajghat, the memorial of Mahatma Gandhi, around 7 am. Later, he went to Sadaiv Atal, the lotus-shaped memorial of former prime minister Vajpayee.
