While the Congress chief’s last affidavit had political overtones over the Rafale deal, his latest affidavit of “unconditional apology” has no mention of Rafale or PM Modi.

Earlier, Rahul Gandhi said in an interview, "There is absolutely no apology to PM Narendra Modi. I made a genuine mistake that I said the Supreme Court said it. I am not apologising to the least for saying Chowkidar chor hai.”

Not once, but at least thrice, Rahul Gandhi conveniently steered away from making his stand clear on an issue that has become the overarching election agenda, particularly since Balakot strike by Indian forces. Sample this.

Rahul Gandhi apparently appreciates the style of Kejriwal of lying and making false and baseless allegations. He tried that with his concocted takes on the deal for Rafale fighter planes. Scared of inviting the ire of the Supreme Court, he grudgingly tendered an apology for having attributed to the court what was a figment of his imagination. That was not a genuine apology. The apex court must come up with a stricter approach to deal with politicians who defame rivals wantonly with falsehoods and then say 'sorry' out of fear.

It is too late for Congress to realise that in this day and age of knowledge the lies are only hurting their own credibility, which is any way at an all-time low and nobody is getting fooled by this. If the estimates from the first four phases of Lok Sabha elections are to go by, the people of India have rejected Rahul Gandhi and his lie factory.
