Rafale Case  

The Supreme Court has dismissed the review petitions challenging its verdict in the Rafale case that was passed on December 14, 2018. The verdict was pronounced by CJI Ranjan Gogoi, Justice SK Kaul and Justice KM Joseph. 

The Supreme Court has rejected Congress president Rahul Gandhi's expression of regret for misinterpreting its decision to include a newspaper report as permissible evidence in the Rafale case. 

Lekhi added that the classified documents in Rafale case, which will now be considered for hearing by the court, were wrongly presented by Rahul Gandhi before the people.

The contempt petition was filed by BJP leader Meenakshi Lekhi after Rahul said that the court has made it clear that Prime Minister Narendra Modi "committed theft"

In the Rafale case, the Supreme Court had clarified that the reconsideration petition filed on the basis of confidential documents obtained wrongly would be heard. 

Amid allegations by the Congress of corruption in the Rafale jet deal of 2016, the Supreme Court will recommence hearing petitions for review of the decision taken in December 2018.

'The questions asked to the IAF officials were very basic in nature. They were asked about fifth generation fighter planes and how they were more capable than what the Air Force currently operates. They were also asked about the generation of the Su-30MKI planes and the Rafale planes,' senior IAF officials said
