The Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Chemicals and Fertilizers, Ananth Kumar passed away early Monday morning in Bengaluru.

Sri Lanka’s main parties today challenged in the highest court the President’s sacking of Parliament, a move which has escalated a political crisis and deepened international alarm.

Union parliamentary affairs minister Ananth Kumar died at a private hospital in Bengaluru in the early hours of Monday after battling lung cancer for several months, hospital authorities said.

A six-time Member of Parliament,  Ananth Kumar had climbed the political ladder steadily from being an RSS worker to becoming a Union minister in his thirties.

In a tweet, the Vice President Secretariat quoted Naidu as describing Kumar as a "colleague for years together, from students' movement to Parliament" 

Sabarimala advisory board chairman TK Nair said to media that the Centre might keep Sabarimala issue alive till 2019 Parliamentary election. And they may also be hoping this issue might bring in a negative influence on post-flood measures and development work of the Kerala government led by the LDF.

The caller said he was calling from the Parliament branch of SBI where BJP MP Rajendra Agarwal's salary gets credited and asked Agarwal to divulge his 16-digit ATM card number and bank account number

The political crisis in the country began when Maithripala Sirisena sacked Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and named former President Mahinda Rajapakse as the premier on October 26. However, Wickremesinghe has refused to leave the official residence

The argument raised by Maran brothers is that only MPs are supposed to have a restriction on their phone connections, according to the Salaries and Allowance of Members of Parliament Act, the same is not applicable to a Cabinet minister.

Two Rohingya women were reportedly arrested  after their vehicle was intercepted in the Gularthola area in Jiribam district on Monday. 

Political turmoil in the island nation was triggered late on October 26 when Sri Lanka President Maithripala Sirisena appointed his predecessor Mahinda Rajapaksa as Prime Minister. It was opposed by Ranil Wickremesinghe, who insists he's still in charge. The two are now set to face off in parliament in a confidence vote.

'Assam will burn if they continue to push the bill. If the bill is passed in Parliament, the situation will worsen and the recruitment for ULFA-I, the anti-talk faction, will increase,' Anup Chetia said

The BJP MLA asked why the Supreme Court was delaying hearing the matter and said that the issue of a Ram temple in Ayodhya is a "top priority for Hindu society".

Former PM Wickremesinghe, who has termed his sacking as unconstitutional, claimed that he is still the legally appointed Prime Minister with parliamentary majority.
