Pampa  

Maharishi Valmiki, revered as the Adi Kavi (First Poet), authored the epic Ramayana under Lord Brahma's guidance. Celebrated on Ashwin Purnima, Valmiki Jayanti honours his literary and spiritual contributions.

 Manithi group was shifted to Pampa Ganapathy Temple and later were taken to a safe place. They were able to move only 200 metres further. When protests intensified, the police arrested and removed nearly thirty protesters from there. The Manithi team barged into the guard room. The police too fled from the spot.

Pathanamthitta collector PB Nooh has issued prohibitory orders at places like Pampa, Elavunkal and Sannidhanam till November 6.

Especially Idukki and Wayanad, that were flooded resulting in displacement of thousands of families, are facing acute drought. Rivers including Periyar, Bharathapuzha, Pampa and Kabani are dried up and cracks can be seen on the surface.
