Pakistan F 16  

Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman will be honoured with Vir Chakra on August 15, for his valour and brave fight against the Pakistani forces. He shot down a Pakistan F-16 near the Line of Control and was brought back to India via the Wagah border
 

The “irrefutable proof” by IAF consists of AWACS (Airborne Warning and Control System) radar images proving that the Pakistani aircraft was indeed shot down by Abhinandan’s MiG 21 Bison before his own aircraft went down in PoK area.

Top IAF sources confirmed that Varthaman had fired an R-73 missile to take out the F-16 aircraft, however, his jet was also hit by an AMRAAM missile
 

The Pashtun leadership has called for a UN inquiry into the matter alleging that this was the latest misuse of the F-16 fighter jets, and that Pakistan has been consistently using them to harass the Pashtuns, who are not terrorists

Earlier, Pakistan had been denying having used its F-16 aircraft to violate Indian airspace in retaliation to the Indian air strikes in Balakot.

On February 27, the ministry of external affairs confirmed that India had lost a MiG-21 Bison aircraft during an air-to-air engagement with the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) jets following the non-military, pre-emptive air strikes in Balakot

ANI reports say that Pakistan Air Force's F-16 that violated the Indian air space was shot down in Indian retaliatory fire 3 km within Pakistan territory in Lam valley, Nowshera sector.
