Onion Prices  

The Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Ram Vilas Paswan held a press conference on 7th January to brief media about the overall availability and prices of Onions across the nation along with the imported quantities so far. Paswan said that the Union Government has decided to offer Onions to State Governments at the landing price in Mumbai ranging from Rs. 49 to Rs. 58 per Kg.

An old video of Congress leader Kapil Sibal asking one of the reports not to ask questions about skyrocketing prices to the government, and instead, ask the onion traders has resurfaced on the Internet. 

Minutes after senior Congress leader and INX Media scam accused P Chidambaram took a jibe at Nirmala Sitharaman over the onion prices issue, the finance minister said her remark was taken “out of context”
