Prime Minister Narendra Modi will file his nomination for Varanasi Lok Sabha constituency in Uttar Pradesh today. The prime minister addressed a gathering of BJP workers. He will be visiting the famous Kal Bhairav temple in the city. He will then visit the city's collectorate to file his nomination papers.

Karnataka will go to polls in two phases of 14 constituencies each, on April 18 and 23.

A total of 362 candidates have filed their nominations in Karnataka in the first phase, out of which 337 are men and 25 are women candidates. Bengaluru North has highest number of candidates in Karnataka - 40 and Hassan has the least - 13 candidates.

Close to 150 nominations in Telangana have been rejected after scrutiny. This brings the number of valid nominations to 503.

After over 200 farmers filed nominations against K Kavitha alleging that the state government has not kept promises, Kavitha has responded saying the TRS has worked towards the issues of farmers but the BJP has not done much. The BJP retorted saying that farmers are against the TRS, not the BJP.
